Invincible Comdendium review PT-1

I have just recently dove into the world of The Walking Dead’s creator Robert Kirkman’s love letter to suoer heroes that is Invincible. I kept hearing from fellow comic readers that I had to read Invincible. I couldnt undersatnd why. So I finally decided to dive in and buy the issues. Not being a fan of trade paper backs I wanted to buy the issues but I quickly discoved that they would be too expesnive so I p=bought the Invincible compendiums volume one and two. I am only around twenty four issues in but wow. The book is amazing. I love how Kirkman makes fun of while embracing the comic book tropes of the past.  They even hhave a whole team that pokes fun at the justice league

the main story is of a boy names Mark Grayson, whos father is basically Superman. Upon turning 17 he discovers that he too has super powers. Invincible reminds me of Ultimate Spiderman by Bendis quite a bit. Its funnny while being serious at the same time and a nice departure to Kirkman;s other book The Walking Dead. Deffintiy check it out and wait for my next review for the second halfof Invincible compendium Pt.2

The Pullist 7-8-15

This week’s pull list was huge ! One of the largest I have had since starting a folder back up earlier this year. This week included multiple Secret War tie ins like Civil War and 1872. The list had books such as The Walking Dead,a new take on Archie, Justice League, and even a new Batman book.

Daredevil season two has it’s Elektra

Elektra has been cast in MArvel’s Daredevil season two on Netflix. She will be played by Elodie Yung. A virtually unknown actress to the world she will have the huge task of playing one of the most iconic characters from the man without fear’s comic past.

How to start a comic collection.

Hi my name is Justin and im addicted to comic books and other nerdy hobbies. This is a small guide to how to start collecting comics, Comic collecting can be a great and excited hobby to have. Comics are an easy and fun item to collect. They offer plenty in the way of entertainment. Comics can be tough to start collecting but it is no hard task either. I am going to try to lay down a rough idea of where to start with your new obsession.

Step one- Buy comics. This sounds simple enough, except you must choose which books you want to read. I suggest to not become overwhelmed with the hundreds of books offered at your local comic provider, but to choose a few characters you like and pick up the books that look the most interesting to you.

Step 2 Budget- Set a reasonable budget for your new collection. Comics come out every Wednesday so a budget is an essential part of your new weekly collection. This will help you save money and pick which books you actually want. Not having a budget can get you in trouble.

Step 3- Protection- You will need to buy a comic bags and boards to protect your new treasures. Bags and boards will protect your books for years to come. These are relativly cheap and well worth the investment. Next is storage. While buying your bags and boards you can pick up a comic storage box for anywhere betweem five to ten dollars a piece. These are essential to your comic book’s health and their value. NOw to choose rather you want a long or short box. One is just simply twice the size as the other.

Step 4- Enjoy your books.

The most important step to starting a comic collection is to simply enjoy your books. Read your books and have fun with it. This is the main point of comic collecting is the stories and characters taht live withen the books we buy each week.

odd comics to come

Comics are an odd medium. They can tell tell narratives of all sorts. No matter how odd or crazy the story may be. Comics today have recently been growing crazier and crazier especially the more indie comic book companies such as Dark horse,Image , and Boom. Here are a few i saw recently that caught my eye.

First is Archie V.S Sharknado. This will be be releasing tocoincide with the release witht the third Sharknado film in July.

Second odd comic is one I found rather cool and will be looking foward to. This is Klaus. Klaus is from Grant Morrison.  Morrison will try to tell the orgin story of good old St. NIck. The story will be a gory and raw telling of the patron St. of girfts and Christmas.

Third is one I suspect will be cool but it is still an odd choice. Alien V.S Vampierlla

The fourth and final odd comic I have noticed lately is Lesbian zombies from outter space. WTF. This is the oddest comic I have heard about in a long time. WHo knows it may be a fun book maybe even one that will get you all hot and bothered for some lesbian zombies!

All new Marvel post Secret Wars

Marvel has it’s mega summer event happening right now. Secret wars is awesome. Like all good things, secret wars must end and it will end this fall with the all new Marvel titles. Marvel is boasting anywhere from 55-60 new titles. These pictures show off characters and stories.
Are you guys excited ? Pissed off ? I’m pumped but also a little weary of the changes. Only time will tell if this change will be like D.C’s New 52 or if this will be Marcel’s genesis into a new era of comics.

Invincible Reboot

Image and Invincible creator Robert Kirkman have announced the newest arc of Invincible will be titled Invincible reboot.

Not many details have been announced about this yet except it will start later this year with issue 124 on October 21st. Invincible will find himself without powers. This seems more like a joke or jab at Marvel and D.C for their constant reboots.

I am really looking forward to this !

Mark Millar’s Huck

Super star comic creator Mark Milar’s latest creation is Huck. Huck is a small town low key hero who does one good deed a day and always seems to go unnoticed. Not much is known about Huck so far except that he works at a gas staion, wears overalls, and is a strong guy. I’m very excited for this as I always am about Millar’s books. Check out a few images for Huck

Pull list 7/01/15

This week’s list was a great pull as usual. Secret wars 4 is the clear winner this week but the others are great as well. Enjoy.
