Noah by Darren Aronofsky , starring Russell Crowe,Emma Watson, and Jennifer Connelly is loosely based on the biblical story of the same name and tells the all important Genesis and the flood myth.

Noah starts with some back story on Adam and Eve, their children Cain,Abel, and Seth. We see a very young Noah and his father, embarking on some ritual of sorts and evil men come and slay his father before the young boy’s eyes. They are the last in the line of Seth. The descendants of Cain have built industrial cities with the help of giants known as the fallen angels who have become the watchers.

Noah has visions from god that the world will be destroyed by water. Noah visits his grandfather Methuselah , played by Anthony Hopkins, and he has a vision to build the ark. With help from he fallen angels Noah along with his family build the ark and collect the animals of the world come to Noah in droves to board the great ship.

As the flood comes down Noah and his family board the ship while the King of men boards the ship as a stow away and as rain and certain death falls from the sky the men panic and rush the ship.

Russel Crowe is just as bad ass as Noah as he is Maximas Decimus in Gladiator . Aronofsky  shows us a more realistic approach to the flood story. Painting man as cruel and a moral gray. Aronofsky takes heavy influence from the dead sea scroll texts The Book of Enoch who is Noah’s great Grandfather, that talks of a dark world with fallen angels and war.

Over all the Bible story turned blockbuster , is not bad at all. I actually enjoyed it.Russel Crowe is great in all of his roles.

Pros- Russel Crowe and Darren Aronofsky.

-Realistic take on a biblical classic.

-EmmaWatson, Come on guys who doesn’t like Hermoine lol

"Noah" New York Premiere - Inside Arrivals

-Anthony Hopkins as Noah’s granddad.

Cons-Jennifer Connelly, she is kinda terrible in most every movie she is in.

You should check out my review of the same movie.

I am a minister…to me this isn’t so much of an accurate biblical portrayal. Of course, I don’t know what the Dead Sea Scrolls say. That is an interesting find.

Russell Crowe was the best actor here. But the portrayal of Noah as someone losing his mind going to kill those babies, and the Portrayal of God as asking him to by making the rain stop as he prayed about the issue, were “Hollywoodizations” that don’t honor the story correctly.

I think it is a good movie as a fantasy, but not as an accurate biblical movie along the lines of “The Passion of the Christ.”

    I need to see “Gladiator.”
